Buttery Soft Pretzels
Ingredients
* 4 tabelspoons active dry yeast
* 1 tablespoons white sugar
* 1 1/2 cups warm water (110 degrees F)
* 5 cups all-purpose flour
* 1/2 cup white sugar
* 1 1/2 tablespoons salt
* 1 tablesppons vagetable oil
* 1/2 cup baking soda
* 4 cups hot water
* 1/4 cup kosher salt, for topping
1. In small bowl, dissolve yeast & sugar in warm water. Let stand until creamy, about 10 minutes.
2. In a large bowl, mix togather flour, 1/2 cup sugar & salt. Make a well in the centre ; add the oil & yeast mixture. Knead the dought until smooth, about 7 to 8 minutes. Lightly oil a large bowl place the dought in the bowl & turn to coat with oil. Covered with plastic warp & let rise in a warm place until double size, about 1 hours.
3. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. In a large bowl, dissolve baking soda in hot water.
4. when risen, turn dough onto a lightly floured surface & divide into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a rope & twist into pretzel shape. Once all of the dought is all shaped, dip each pretzel into the baking soda solution & place on a greased baking sheet. Sprinkle with kasher salt.
5. Bake in preheat oven for 8 minutes, until browned.
